Chapter 3 Test Number 5

find the derivative of the following function: y = 9^(7x)

recognize that the chain rule must be used

remember the formula: (a^(x))' = (a^(x)) (ln a)

a=9
applying the chain rule to the exponent '7x',
so.... 9^(7x) (7x)'

the der. of 7x is 7

(9^7x)(ln9)(7) = y'(x)

this answer matches the answer choice of 'b'
